She was two years younger than her sister Stella.
We were both very similar and mom dressed us both the same, as was customary in those days. My father worked at the Bruzzone gallery and was an activist for list 15 of the Colorado Party. At home there was always propaganda for list 15: balls, dolls, stickers. So much so that during election time one of my family's activities was to go see my father or my uncle when they gave their speeches. My mother took care of the housework. A family custom was to gather toys for Three Kings Day, we would arrange them and distribute them. We lived in Buceo, the neighborhood was next to a cantegril, in one of the first material houses built in that area. Silvia went to Rivera and Julio César's school, she studied with very good grades and practiced skating at the Platense Patín Club. An illness at the age of 5 forced her to rest. It was difficult to keep her still and among the many resources they used, Dad came up with the idea of making a kite, he stuck it to the ceiling and gave her the string to fly it inside the house, Stella remembers.
Later she went to high school 12 which was in Rivera and Soca, she also stood out for her grades and for being very pretty, her green eyes in contrast with her dark hair drew attention. He had many friends. His adolescence was surrounded by music, the Beatles, the Rolling, Mateo, Urbano Moraes, Quico Sicone, and he decided to learn guitar, his teacher was Teresita Minetti. Her passion for music and for being part of the most famous bar in the neighborhood led her to form a rock group, The Alacrans, they debuted in the San Pedro parish in a quermés, all dressed in black hoodies with a scorpion embroidered in white, miniskirts and black high boots.
The idea was Silvia's, well accompanied by Stella and other friends, she was 13 years old.
When she turned 15 they celebrated at home, she was very pretty, she straightened her hair, she put on false eyelashes, and a very short white lace dress that showed off her bra. I already had a passionate boyfriend. But on a trip to Buenos Aires with some friends, celebrating her 15th birthday, she met Washington, who not only sold them a ticket on the Vapor de la Carrera, he also got them a special cabin, became an unconditional traveling companion and was back waiting for her.
Washington was 17 years old, he was studying at the IBO night school, he wanted to be a lawyer. Silvia worked four hours, continued studying and began to active in politic. In 1971 she joined the March 26 Movement, she was active in the FER 68 but was not part of the MLN. Washington was also active in the FER 68 and later joined the MLN.
They married in October of '73 and moved to an apartment, behind his parents' house, in Brazo Oriental. For Christmas Eve, Silvia, Washington and Jacqueline, her sister, put together the tree. -This Christmas we are here, mom, but the next ones we may be somewhere else; "I'm going to ask you to always make the tree for Christmas Eve, so you'll always have us present," Washington asked him.
There were many fears, when they told Washington's mother that they were going to have a child, Silvia said:
-We are going to ask you that, if we have to leave here, that you take care of the boy or the girl, only you.
-Something happens? -the mother asked, and Washington answered: -No, nothing happens, but if something happens, mom... we want you to take care of our son.
Death interrupted his dreams. At the wake, which was held at her mother's house, Rapella appeared to provoke. Silvia's father, on impulse, took out the Rapella´s gun and pointed it at his head, took him out of the house and told him that he was going to kill him if anything happened to Stella. They were finally able to convince him to give the gun back and Rapella left.
The military presence did not prevent the neighbors from arriving and silently taking up positions on the opposite sidewalk, where they set up a human chain. When the coffin came out, a shower of red roses fell on it. With joined hands the people formed the spontaneous and warm procession.
On November 29, 1973 he had turned 19 years old.
