On April 21, 1974, Washington was in Buenos Aires looking for a house to move into. He finds out what happened when he talks to his mother on the phone the next day. That was the last time they had contact with him. According to the records of the neighboring country, on September 17 of that same year Washington was arrested along with four Argentines in his house located on streets 6 and 9 of Cabo Farina, Córdoba. The procedure was directed by the Secretary of Security and the Chief of Police of the province, Commissioner Héctor García Rey. According to the Unified Registry of Victims of State Terrorism (Argentina), on February 20, 1975, Washington signed the resolution of the judge of Federal Court number 3 in which the charges of illegal entry into the country were lifted. That same day he was kidnapped while being taken in a police car with custody to the city of Córdoba to regain his freedom. Just two days later the Argentine police issued a press release notifying of his escape.
